OK, I'll bite. That would put a lot of bands out of business.

Has there ever been any other band as widely covered? Or more to the point - maybe some songs (like the Beatles) are covered more, but at this moment, there are probably more GD cover bands in this country than any band you can name. Literally hundreds. They are keeping the music alive. 40 years later. Though I would agree, you can't outdo Jerry...

There's some good music out there, some nice interpretations. Jesse McReynolds comes to mind.

Amen to that! Glad someone else FINALLY feels this way too. All I hear is praise for DSO. I won tickets to see them and went to the show with a very enthusiastic open mind (although I typically despise cover bands, ESPECIALLY Dead cover bands, by definition).

Long story short, I left a few songs into the first set. Have yet to understand what people like about them.

Interpretations are good. Jackie Greene comes to mind as an artist who takes Dead tunes and puts his own stamp on them. I know there are others out there doing the same thing as well as their own stuff. Those folks I whole heartedly support. But, sorry folks, this is my opinion only, I cannot get behind DSO. And I won't even get started on what goes on over at the Lost Sailors Pub.

Agree with you for the most part... I haven't heard anything from DSO or Furthur that would make me go searching for a download or plunk my dollars down for a concert.

You could have easily refuted me with this link, which does not represent the real Jesse: http://tinyurl.com/27pllp6
